Memory:Marty O'Donnell
I saw GG several times when they played in Chicago back in the early 70's. The last time I (and a couple guys from my band) saw them, we followed them back to their hotel and I got in the elevator with Kerry, Ray, and Derek. I asked if they would come back down to the bar and meet with me and my friends and they said ok! Believe it or not we spent about an hour with them talking about music and bands and why Yes was more popular in the States and stuff like that. I was a music composition major at the time (subsequently getting my MM from USC) and talked to Kerry about 16th century counterpoint. That was in 1975. I've since gone on to have a career in music most recently composing all the music for the Xbox video games Halo and Halo2. The influence of GG on my compositional approach is huge and it's so nice to see that they haven't been forgotten.
