As a 16 year old in 1974 i was into all sorts of rock music, sneaking to these shows as i could not get permission to go to them. But on Nov.2, 1974 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston Mass, I went with a bunch of friends to see my favorite band then, Black Oak Arkansas . On my ticket stub it only said Black Oak Arkansas / Golden Earring, which i also liked with their big hit Radar Love. Before the show started, there was talk of another band coming on first. When the lights finally went down, I jumped out of my seat to the sound of Glass breaking, very spooky i might add, not knowing what the heck was going on. As the glass breaking got louder and louder in syncopation, a huge glitter sign with the words GIANT was lowered from the top of the stage and all hell broke loose in the front seats as there must have been GG fans there. After that , i fell in love with this band! They were a thrill to watch and i was in awe of thier musical knowledge The drummer, John Weathers was so into the music and the odd time changes , and i remember an electric violin solo from one of the Shulman Brothers he looked like a crazed man violently sawing that violin but so well musically interesting. I could not get enough of this band as i saw them at the Boston Garden in 75 with Steppenwolf. When GG left the stage, i left the venue. I could care less about Steppenwolf although i like them too. A very hard act to follow, Gentle Giant , until the day i day lives on in my life eveyday..
