Something to add to your compilation of recollections.... My best friend Don and I were probably the biggest fans of GG in Jersey during their heyday (and still are today!), so of course when we heard about them playing the Fast Lane in Asbury Park (one of the famous "lost concerts" on your list), it was road trip time. The place was packed, and the boys were cooking - - we were in pig heaven. When they took a break, Don and I headed for the head. As we proceeded to piss on opposite sides of a balding, bearded gentleman, we overheard two guys at the sinks giving their stoned opinion of the performance so far. Obvious graduates of the "draw Bambi and you, too can be a music critic" school, they ragged on about everything from song selection to sound quality, finishing up with the statement, "and that drummer really sucks!" As they departed the room, the guy between us zipped up, looked me in the eye and simply said, "Assholes." Dumbstruck, and too late for the departed aforementioned assholes, Don and I realized that we were pissing with John Weathers! We muttered something about how great we thought the performance was, he said "thanks", and he left. If a neuron and dendrite ever get together in this 48 year old head, and I can remember the date of that night, you'll be the first to know.
