In 2001, Gary Green put up his Les Paul guitar for sale at Uncle Lou's.
The asking price: $45,000. It was described as:
- "double whites Patent Applied For pickups. re-necked but original fret board and frets. early 60 with 59 specs. all original except mounting ring is 70s - original rings are in case but taped up glued pretty much destroyed."
Diana Green writes: "Bear in mind the instrument not only has intrinsic value as a vintage Las Paul, but also has significance due to its provenance being so well documented (an issue in anything arbitrarily deemed 'collectible') and its place in rock history."
The guitar did sell, reportedly in excess of the asking price.
